I installed my Drag Specialties 3.5" straight handlebar risers which replaced my 2" straight risers. I like the stock handlebars but I needed to raise them just enough to prevent my neck getting stiff on long rides while leaning slightly forward and lifting my chin. I even noticed the extra wear on the back of the collar of my jackets. It's only an extra 1.5" but it made a big difference. Now I have my "Goldilocks" handlebar position.

I haven't ridden in quite a while (following 2 shoulder surgeries earlier this year), so I was quite happy to get out yesterday for a short ride to run errands.

But, things didn't start off well. Had to charge the Shorai lithium battery because the bike wouldn't even turn on. Fortunately, the bike did start at all my subsequent stops while running errands. Most of my batteries I leave on a battery tender, but the lithium I don't like doing that (I'd feel better if I had the Shorai tender).

My shoulder felt good while riding. Getting the bike off the kickstand was a tad uncomfortable and shoulder was a tad tender all evening.

nice to hear you are fine and on the road again
lithium batteries need a proper charger - maintainer
you did the right thing not connect to a traditional tender

I took it out for a ride then washed and waxed it. (Ouch!)

Looks good.

Now to find the time to dirty it up again.

Covered mine after the long and high mileage weekend and let her rest for the day.

Rain coming hard and fast for the next few days so I grabbed 100 miles through the mountain twisties today. What a beautiful day with very little traffic! I keep liking my old Sporty more and more every time I ride it.

Took another ride today, this time on the 16 1200CX. The bars are a bit wider and lower, which seemed to aggravate my shoulder a bit, but still I rode for 1.5 hours. I'll take it.

Also ordered a proper charger/maintainer for the Shorai lithium battery.

Good! from what I heard/was told, they are a different breed of batteries. I light the light weight best.

Are you going to change the charging system on the Roadster for the new battery?

No need for that. The stock charging system from what I've seen is stable enough and doesn't output too high of voltage (which is the biggest problem for lithium batteries). I've used a regular battery tender with the lithium battery, just overnight or a couple of days. Shorai even publishes that you can use standard chargers/tenders. I just don't trust them enough to leave on for weeks on end with the lithium. And, while they work, they wouldn't be best for longevity of the battery.

The Shorai charger/maintainer does some diagnostics and it floats the charge between 60% - 80% while in storage mode, which is best for lithium batteries. At 60%, it should still have no issue starting the bike, but they do recommend changing to charge mode before using.
