Default Need recommendations for 17"/18" Wheels (or maybe 19..)

Hey,

I am planning to modify my 1200C towards being a Flat Tracker over time - with the wheels being one of the main things, obviously: the custom has 16/21 now and that's not the right direction... :-)

I understand AMA requires 19" and therefore the "real thing" would ne 19 inch - but but after a bit of research, it seems I'd have way more tire options when going with the popular size 17" (and still with 18").

Does anyone here have a recommendation for the most affordable wheels? (Spokes or Cast wheels - I have a preference, but affordability would supersede that.

I researched a bit and it seems one can spend anything between 180-ish and 1,000 per Wheel (!).
Not sure how to choose, not sure how they differ - and would love to get some advice before I go ahead and simply buy the cheapest I can get...

Thanks for your help!

RaceMoto, I like the flat tracker style too!
I would lace 18" rim's front & rear if I was doing it,
Good luck with project!

I've been toying with the same idea as well. I prefer to have mags or cast aluminum. However, economically reasonable options are few. The old Morrison mags can be found but fitment seems to be an issue for the rear as it appears that the rears are drum only and the fronts are single disc. I have an S model and would like to keep the dual discs.

You could get a rear hub from a laced wheel and lace it to a front 19in rim. Call up Buchanan and they can do any combination of things from selling you a 19in rim and spokes to use with your rear hub to building the whole thing for you.

Or, I just bought a Moto Iron 18in rear from TC Bros, they have a 19 as well.

definitely... at least 18" rear 19" front... but better both 18" (150 or 130 the rear and 100 or 120 the front one)...

Hmmm..

From the optical standpoint, 18" or 19" makes more sense, indeed.

But looking the the tire options, 17" is a completely different story...
