Default s&s teardrop air cleaner on stock bike

Hi,

I know there is a lot of threads about this subject but I didn't find the answer I was looking for.

Does the s&s teardrop air cleaner on a 98 sportser xl1200 stock bike (stock mufflers) needs rejetting or only adjusting the mixture screw is fine ?

they are a good air cleaner!!
If motor starts ok no spiting or farting & after warmed up if it runs ok, should be fine check what pilot jet as if 45 to 46 pj should be right mj about 175 to 185 the motor will tell you when you give it wide open Throttle if it needs more gas.

happy to be able to help.
just thought can also put small washer like is used for electric's, can put washer under head of needle this will bring the richer fuel curve in faster. keep stock spring & do not drill out the vacume hole in the slide. as that stops carb working to design. also if take carb top off, be very very careful . & slow & careful replacing the rubber diapgame and slide. as do not want to pinch the rubber diaphragm .
