The classic Grimeca rear caliper needed a hanger so I made one from hi grade aluminium.

The parts assembled and are to be welded together later but this works for now. I also turned a hub spacer for the disc to get it in line with the caliper position.
Oops, rusty screws... need to do something about that huh?

Sure, here you go (yes, those are Branch flatslides):

I guess you wanted to see the tapering of the manifolds, no?

Thanks.
Yes I have the same setup I have been mocking up on my XR style engine, thinking of ditching the CV's.....

Have you ever read this Branch manual?:

That´s some cool mill there. I´ve never got up close to a Sputhe engine but read some stuff. Looks awesome and I bet it pulls really hard.
Yes, I have the booklet. Since Jerry and Steve re-worked my XR-heads and I got most of the other parts from them also, they sent the booklet with the shipping. This was in 1990 or something.

Ok, once I had the engine in the frame I found somehing wasn´t really right with it. Not surprised tho, as it had been a race bike before I got it and race bikes goes off the course every now and then... So it wasn´t straight. Stripped the whole thing again and handed it to my buddy who runs a custom workshop and a few hours later in his jig it was good to go for further projecting. I love when people know their business.

This time it was just a piece of cake to get the motor mounts to bolt on as it wasn´t quite as easy before the adjustment. Good thing I have my 19 y.o. son who loves to be a mechanic... ;-)

Next step will be to get the bike to a friend who´s good with building tanks and stuff. So once the hollidays are over we´ll drop the bike off at his shop and he´ll make an aluminium gas tank and mountings for it. He made the XLCR replica tank for the last version of this XR1000 also and that´s the gas tank on the black and orange Sporty in the pic´s of the first page of this thread. I was very happy with that tank (Sportster is sold now) so...

Looking forward to seeing this scoot in next years XLForum calendar.

It looks like it's going to be a very serous Sporty.
