Thanks again for all the info. I have tried the bike with everything disconnected from the battery positive apart from the charge cable and it still drains the battery.

I am charging the battery over night and will do some tests on it tomorrow.

The battery came with the bike and was good all last year

When a battery has a bad cell, charging at 13.8-14.8 volts will overcharge the 5 good cells making the battery appear to be fully charged until they sit for a while or have even a minor load applied, then they will start dropping down to normal voltage.

I suspect that is happening with yours.

A typical AGM is 50% discharged in 60 days with a drain equal to the load of a voltage regulator, speedo, tach, and TSSM. With only a regulator, speedo (no tach) and TSM, the load is only ~ 3 milliamps and 50% discharge would be about 120-150 days.

After charging, the battery can be taken to AutoZone, O'Reillys, etc. for a load test.
If not convenient, then with a fully charged battery, turn on the key, push the start button and use your 1200 or 1400 watt starter to load test it. Voltage should be 11 point something, definitely not under 10.5 volts.

There are issues with batteries not in regular use, not getting a full charge:

Did you do the 4 battery tests in the Sportsterpedia (linked in Post#2)?
I didn't see you post any numbers for having tested the battery that way...

http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:elec01#battery_voltage_readings

Those tests will demonstrate charge level, unloaded & loaded battery responses...

Well after all that it looks like the battery is on its way out. Did the tests you guys suggested and the battery is giving 12.64v after being charged off the bike and left to sit a while.

Really appreciate your help. I learned something!

Now I need to dig into the forum and see if there’s any threads relating to why all my cylinder and lifter oil seals are starting to leak all of a sudden. It’s one thing after another but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Cheers 🍻

I still don't see the four voltages you got from the tests... Can you post those?

When you're ready, start a new thread regarding 'why all my cylinder and lifter oil seals are starting to leak all of a sudden'...

Video (or pics in other cases) is very helpful once a 'problem' is seen by the forum as unusual - We diagnose problems based on what we know, what we are told and what theory says should happen...

We generally suggest doing certain tests because we have found the results to be important indicators of where to look for the source of the problems... Often times, the OP doesn't understand why we're asking a certain question or when given a list, simply overlooks EACH and EVERY test check suggested, while EACH and EVERY one was intended to produce usable information toward a solution...

Long-distance diagnostics requires lots of accurate and specific information so that 'WE SEE' what you see... and maybe see what you don't see... And that is where having a video (or pics) of 'the problem' from your perspective can be evaluated & assessed for help from afar. The perception may be the same as you had, but it might also be perceived quite differently because of other's experiences and knowledge, even though they are remotely located, trying to assess what is actually happening and why...

Good Luck with the bike...

Apologies I have been getting stuck into my Royal Enfield the past few days I’m going to use that for my daily ride while i give the sportster some new engine seals.
The battery values were.

Key off 12.64
Key on 12.56
Pressing start 9.99v
Charging at 13.5v

I did these tests a couple of days ago and when I checked the voltage today it was 12.51v so looks like it’s losing charge.
