Another advantage to translucent Tygon is the ability to visually monitor/verify fuel flow and the existence of sediment. Concerns with engine heat are unwarranted, IMO... I have never known anyone to have a problem with it.

Tygon is a good product. So are SAE rubber hoses. Personally, I'd rather have hose that can cope with substantially more heat when it runs between two air cooled cylinders.
I use a billet in-line filter, as I prefer to trap any sediment before it gets to the carb. It's about personal preferences. No harm in either.

I use fuel injection hose, usually common Gates Barricade for fuel and oil lines. The generic "fuel hose" on the sales floor at auto stores is fecal by comparison and degrades and cracks quickly. Ask at the counter and they often have fuel injection hose on a reel in back. Local auto store prices are higher than online, and I usually buy cut lengths via Ebay. The "fuel injection" hose clamps are also superior to worm drive clamps and look nicer too.

If buying metric fuel injection hose, 8mm and 5/16" interchange just like the wrench sizes do.
