Default 1.725 rockers and 660 cams

Has Hammer tested 1.725 rockers with the 660 cams and conical springs yet? I'm interested in upgrading from my 1.6 rockers and 1.98 intake and going to 1.725 and 2.01 intakes while keeping my 660 cams. Has this been tested yet? Can it be? Does the mule have that cam lift restriction of the later models? How about test on one of your old bikes like the wifey's Buell?

Putting the 660's on stilts increases their already substantial TDC lifts, which reduces valve-to-valve clearance. You can sink the valves to get more clearance, within limits, but that makes the chamber bigger, and once you've got a full dome piston, making the chamber bigger mean a loss of compression.

So really you're talking about trade-offs between valve sizes and cam specs and compression. You can't have it all, you have to make choices. The trick is to find the combination that makes the most power.

Now you know why altering the valve angles is such a big deal. It lets you run more overlap and/or more valve, whichever you think will be more beneficial. But of course, you need enough bore size to support it.

Bottom line, to put the 660's on stilts you're going to be forcing yourself into smaller valves than would otherwise be possible. Will that make more power or less power than bigger valves on standard rockers?

Flow data can be useful in answering that question, as can well-understood relationships between optimal overlap for a given valve size to displacement ratio. But at the end of the day, it's cut and try that gives the final answer.

That late model engine has trouble with the anti-rotators for the tappets and I think 600's are about it because of the base circle of the cams,lifter design and type of rotators.
Big valves and high lift are going to be a valve to valve clearance issue as well on any engine.
I think the 660 and 1.725 would give you .278 intake TDC lift and .266 exhaust lift.
Not to mention the possible geometry issues !
Your on dangerous ground here Mr. Spicoli !

Red Shift 643V2 might be an easier fit with Only .265 intake and .193 exhaust lift at TDC
