Default Help Identifying Old Screamin Eagle Slipons

Hi everybody, new here,

Was hoping somebody could help identify these (older) Screamin Eagle mufflers on my bike when I got it. '99 XL1200C. They have the "competition use" only stamp on the bottom and are turn-out style. Model number would be awesom or pointer to where I can find model number.

Also, how would a slip-on like this compare to others, like the Rush, Python, etc. Only concerned with performance, not sound or looks. From what I understand this older style is better for performance than the newer "Street Performance" EPA compliant slip-ons.

They show those mufflers in turn out style to fit Softtails and other models ( see #'s 80032-95B, 80048-95A, 80073-95A), but don't list a Sportster version in turn out. Doesn't mean they never made them, or could someone have mounted a different models set of slip-ons onto your header pipes? Good luck with your search!

I have the shorty tapered slipons that say the exact same thing on them. I have them on my 1991, probably got them in 1994, after I was hit by a car. Had them put on when they were fixing the bike. Must be early series SE slipons like mine, but with turnout tips. I lost all the receipts for the repair work, or I might have found the part number for you. Good luck.

I love the sound of mine, throaty on acceleration, nice rumble on deceleration. With an 883, performance is pretty much irrelevant, but they sound great to me.

That's a really handy database. Weird that theres no turn-out mufflers listed for XL models though. I've ready a lot about the SE II mufflers, but doesnt seem like they ever made those in a turn out style. I'm really just trying to figure out if I can expect the same performance from the ones I have

Performance wise really depends on the rest of the motor. I only say that because reversion is a combination of how an exhaust works with cam timing. They appear to 2 1/2"? Be nice to see the baffles but with turnouts...
If you're otherwise stock, especially cams, they'll work fine. As for comparison, maybe a little better low end than Rush but not as much peak HP.
I know a guy here with an older dyna that has a set just like those. Little tinny for my liking but that's me.

I actually do have pictures of the baffles. They're pretty minimal and are spot welded in.

Im pretty satisfied with how they perform with my current Stage 1 setup. But I ask about them because I'm thinking about building my engine w/ the hammer 1275 kit and 560 cams w/ SE CNC port heads. I know that they might not perform as well as a performance 2-into-1 exhaust but looking at Hammers dyno tests some slipons can perform very well with a setup like that, the Rush ones for example and I dont think the Cycle Shacks were too bad either. I reached out to hammer and they said the older screamin eagle slipons actually perform pretty well. The thing is when most people refer to the older SE mufflers. They're referring to SE II, and I have no idea if these turnouts are those or not. Cant seem to find anything about them anywhere online

As I recall, they came in tapered, slash cut, and turnout. When I got mine back in 1994 they were in the HD accessories catalog. Yours look just like mine except I have the tapered version. They may have been called "shorty mufflers", or "performance shorty mufflers" as they are a few inches shorter than the stock mufflers.

Greetings Fellow Forum Members,

Minimag95, I've got a set that are similar but are one piece just molded onto the header pipe.

I have always liked the look of a stock exhaust system with SE slip on's, and I really like the ones that are baloney cut and slightly turned out.

I'm trying to like the ones on my bike, but there are others that I like more.

Eventually, I will be more than likely putting on a two into one pipe on my bike after the conversion.

I wish I could find the pipe I had on my old bike below wearing the springer.

The top picture is my new bike.
