he is running points and the original setup was solid metal core.
he does not have an ecu. if you run the ign in the points compartment, will make no diff as the compartment acts like a faraday cage. if you run resistor plugs or spiral core wires, the emf is reduce to an acceptable level. just do not run high tension leads in parallel with power wires go to say for everything.

My 73xlh would drop the back cylinder every 50 miles plug was wet and black.Replaced plug worked for about 50miles and crap out. My problem was bad carb Bendex .Replaced with ss super e runs bette then new.

The original owner of my bike had a similar problem. This was traced to the accelerator pump nozzle being aimed to give the rear cylinder more fuel than the front. Once he re-directed the aim of the nozzle to the centreline of the carb the problem disappeared.

In my experience, for proper aim, the accelerator pump should squirt thru the middle of the cutout in the keihin carb throttle plate, with the plate open of course.

There is a thread in the Stickys which contains a reprint from a magazine article where they discuss accelerator pump nozzle aim. IMO they are wrong in their conclusion, based on my own experiments with their advice...
