Which is exactly why i do not agree with most of what you say on this topic. most of it is founded in the racist, economic competition and societal taboos associated with the origins of marijuana criminalization in this country and not based on what the preponderance of science has to say on the issue of marijuana.
Wiki has this to say about the steady state model of the universe

"While the steady state model enjoyed some popularity in the mid-20th century (though less popularity than the Big Bang theory), it is now rejected by the vast majority of cosmologists, astrophysicists and astronomers, as the observational evidence points to a hot Big Bang cosmology with a finite age of the universe, which the steady state model does not predict."

It took a new generation of scientists to disregard those who held that model. Even Einstein held the view of a static universe long after most of his contemporaries had abandoned it. It also took a new generation of scientists to accept quantum theory. A theory that was unacceptable to a host of physicists at the time of Einstein. which is exactly why Max Planck made the observation that he did.

and you say vague generalities like this "By the way, well over 90% of those revolutionary scientific developments have been proven wrong by further developments."

which actually is the 'general' point i was making. one generation of scientists cling to their data and theories while another generation comes back with observational data to overturn their views and their theories. this is continuing even now in the present day. in the next 30 years i am sure we will see a paradigm shift in physics, cosmology, and geology just to name a few areas of focus.

frankly i don't think you've looked seriously enough into how scientific paradigms change over time and the what constitutes the mechanisms of that change.

but i digress.

like it or not in this country decriminalization of marijuana is happening faster and faster. mainly because the old ideologies that have kept it criminalized are being shown for what they are, nothing but a shell game with no substance.

we've come a long way since Nixon threw out one of the biggest government funded studies on marijuana just because it didn't agree with his confirmation bias.

i would be willing to bet damn good money that you and most of the people in this thread who decry marijuana decriminalization consume a psychoactive drug on a daily basis and have never thought once about its affect on the human nervous system or looked at any studies on its safety or use by humans whatsoever.
