I'm with you ZCarFan. We're between the flat & hills here. 2 miles northwest & you're in the farm plains. 2 miles south or east & you're into the hill farms. Ohio is pretty much farms no matter where you go, interspersed with woods & towns. We vacationed on the coast of the Carolinas for about 20 years. After a couple years of taking the bikes, we stopped. Only 3 roads, all flat & straight through the swamps. Coastal areas don't do it for me. Guess which way I usually go when I take off for a ride from the house?

Pretty bad around here. Texting-crowded roads
I was born here, so that's it

Maybe a few more would like to contribute to this thread...
In reading some other threads, I thought I'd bring another aspect to this one for some diverse commentary...
There are basically three environments for riding - 1) Town/City - 2) Long Distance - 3) Countryside. Of course, some of each plays into all situations, but I think those categories, when they are the predominant environment you ride, usually generate specific mods on your bike, specific approaches to riding, and specific choices of destinations.
My Riding Envirionment is predominantly Countryside.
My Mods include Hiway Pegs (keeping mid-pegs), heated gloves, tank bag & tools.
I always look for roads with lots of curves - I love the centrifigul gravity push into the seat.
My Destinations are usually outdoor locations because I hate leaving KT unattended (anywhere).
--- My Motorcycle Chronicles show this quite clearly ---
Anyone else want to comment?

I ride countryside most of the time. I’m fortunate to have many good and scenic roads in the tri-state area (CT MA RI)
The first major tuning of my Sportster was to the suspension. This was accomplished by using the tips found in the epic handling threads on this forum. That and good handling tires made the bike so much more enjoyable to ride on twisty backroads.
