What is wrong with the 31723-71A coil mount?

Ooops. Late model frame...

It' too short and wont reach the mounting holes with this tank.

Also today's progress: I can't wait forever to be able to buy the tappet roller tool. But I have a friend who works in car service and have all tools needed.
Stock tappets and Dixie rollers. Done.

I have friends with solid tappets in their shovels as well. So we planned to buy the tool for us all but looks like the priorities changed. And currently I was the only one with tappet roller problems.
The final goal is to be able to service our bikes by ourselves.

I am not aware of different sizes of horseshoe?

The max dimensions of the Ultima and stock coils are the same. However, the Ultima is squared, the stock is round so it is smaller, especially when mounting in a restricted space.

Tools needed to remove tappets: hammer, short wooden dowel (maybe 6” long), one or two medium sized flat blade screw drivers. Once you remove the bolt from the lifter block, aim the dowel at either side of the tappet “nose” next to the bolt hole and give the dowel a few good taps until it starts to twist. Usually as it twists in the bore it will also begin to come out. Then use the screw driver(s) under it to leverage it out. Super easy to do.

The part number is the same but it`s not the first time I see notes about "large" and "small" horseshoe.

Anyway, I've bought it. Going to compare it side by side with "large" one from v-twin. You mentioned before that you always had troubles with the spring holding the rear of the tank.
If it is smaller then the tank may sit lower and it should be easier to attach the spring.

Can anybody please tell me the lower frame area tube size?
I'm going to buy the frame clamp to mount exhaust, but not sure which size should I choose. The options are 7/8, 1", 1 1/8 and 1 1/4".
