Thanks

Yea I was going to put small stud mounted reflectors in the lower front fender mounting holes, then grind off the upper mount holes/rest of the bracket

Looking good. The hard part will be keeping the minimalist look and yet still maintaining the efi, keeping all the sensors and wires hid from view along with the ECM

I should have mentioned I'm going to carb it, seems from what I was reading that I can use a carb setup for the same year sportster. The buell efi throttle body goes straight up interfering with the back bone. plus the wire harness is a mile long

I was looking at a s&s super e kit since it includes everything and and Ultima nose cone ignition that comes with everything except a special timing cup, does that sound right with everyone?

Look up the Mikuni HSR42 42-11 kit, and Ultima ignition kit (basically a Dyna2ki in different packaging). Im not sure if it will work with the later model Buell engines, but I used this on my 1999 Buell Lightning engine, everything was there, was easy as pie to install and it fired first go and ran great the whole time I used it. I never had to touch it. The carb in that particular kit comes jetted for the buell engines.
Like I say Im not sure about compatability with the later model Buell engines but If it will work Id recommend the Mikuni.

Edit-the Ultima kit comes with coil, leads, cup and bits to install. Pretty reaso priced too.

I'll check out that carb. I think they used the xb heads as a hop up for the older buells so i think it should work.

I was looking at my exhaust bracket and think if I go off the seat post like blue said it would double as a nice place to mount a chain guard. I wasn't sure if I was going to run one or not. what's everyone's take on chain guards? I think it looks better without, and the exhaust would burn my leg well before it hits the chain, but Im a little worried about the chain making the bike a greasy mess.

small update from this weekend. I made an exhaust bracket from some 7/8 solid bar, drilled and tapped the end. I also finished welding up the exhaust and getting rid of that pesky 02 sensor bung

opposite side

and some ebay special Chinese clutch and brake levers. Surprisingly good quality and feel. I think the red has to go but otherwise well worth the 25 bucks

UPS says I should have another update coming soon, should be something good
