Dammit boomerguy, you have just replied to a 2015 thread/post!!! But what the hell, it's been a fairly well talked about thing whether to replace with stock or go for the poly ones.
I replaced my fronts with poly and thought i had more vibration, but after setting my carb up properly after reading sportsterpedia it all smoothed out ok. Slightly weird but it did.
The rears are still good after 14 years and about 25kms on them, so when they eventually go, i'll replace with stock. (if still available!)

Yeah, I reply to old posts. I read old books and watch old movies. Heck, I even listen to my old vinyl records from the 60's. Whether information or entertainment is old or not, is irrelevant. I'm new to this forum and still learning about my new-to-me old bike. I appreciate all the input I can get and I don't mind sharing what little experience I can.

Heh heh,
I have poly mounts on my 85 C-10.
Motor, tranny and body.
It got rid of the "Chevrolet Sway".
But the vibration eventually ripped the poly motor mounts in half.
Tranny and body mounts still good though.

No offense taken. I enjoy this forum. It seems everybody has a sense of humor and I like it.

Although I've been riding since 1964 and owned all kinds of motorcycles in all shapes, sizes, styles and countries of origin, I've finally gotten around to getting my first (probably only because I love it) Sportster. The bigger brothers are OK but the Sportster just scratches my itch. My 2005 XL883 Standard is vintage enough that I can work on it and modern enough to be really dependable. Anything after 2006 just doesn't appeal to me. It's the best of both worlds. Learning everything I can about it and the history of the Sportster in general has become a passion. I think I've, "drunk the kool-aid".

I have a 2005 883L that has been hardtailed & converted to chain drive, and to avoid chain slap I have brass bushings / inserts in the rear mounts...

I love the hardtail look. I wish Harley had a softail frame for the Sportster. The softail cheats by hiding a monoshock above the swing arm. I had a Honda Shadow 600 VLX with a softail frame, so I know that frame size is not an issue.

My fix for this issue is to use the DS mounts and hardtailing the rear. It should end any sway while keeping vibes at bay. I will find out in spring.

Any long term end users of the DS motor mounts? Do they hold up well? How many miles has everyone been getting out of them? Is it worth installing them on a brand new Iron since I already have my cases out for crank and case work?

I have a set I can mail you for 1/2 price of new, never installed. Was considering running these, but later decided it's probably not the best for long-distance riding I would typically do.

FWIW, you don't need to have the motor out for replacing these. Been a while since I swapped mine but I remember it being not difficult even with motor in place.
