Default Sportster Spoked Wheel Options

Hello, I have recently purchased an '02 Sportster 1200 Custom with the mag rear wheel and was curious what the best route would be to turn it into a spoked rear wheel and possibly larger front (preferably black wheels)? What does everyone else use out there including parts and compnents needed to do the customization. Curious as I am new to this year range Sporty. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m just curious what other people have used and what the best deal/quality options were. Has anyone done a project like this and have any insight or pictures?

You might look through this SportsterPedia section on wheels, Axles, Spacers etc.
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...k:evo:wheels01

J&P Cycles has a black 21" front spoked wheel-

my advice is dont do it you be pissed off plenty sitting there cleaning the front spokes let alone the back as well

wait to the chrome falls off the back wheel it will trust me then get it powder coated

it takes longer to clean the dam spokes than it does to was and polish the rest of the bike they look nice but are a pain in the arse

I like the look of spoke wheels better. Apart from cleaning, which I personally don't mind, there's another thing when going spokes. You can't have tubeless tyres.

When running a flat, you have to get a new inner tube or repair it. With a tubeless you can, temporary or even permanent, fix it with a plug from the outside.

Check out Buchanan's....Lots of options. http://www.buchananspokes.com/

Aluminum Rims and SS spokes will solve the rusty chrome problem. You can actually just buy the SS Spokes.

Well, I was talking about the standard rims in a normal situation of course, but this seems a great idea: The looks of spokes and the safety and benefits of tubeless.

I almost bought a forged aluminum yesterday for the front of the Sportster on clearance for $499 at HOGPRO. http://hogpro.com/specials/499-hogpro-wheels.html

I think I'm just going to stick going the aluminum with stainless spokes, though.

2002 spoke wheels seem easy to find on Ebay, at least when I was looking.
