I see there will be a flat track race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time ever.

The flat track race will be on the dirt track inside turn 3 used by the midgets.

It will run the same weekend as the MOTOAMERICA SUPERBIKES AT THE BRICKYARD August 21-23 2020.

https://motoamerica.com/2020/01/moto...the-brickyard/
Held in conjunction with round eight of the 2020 MotoAmerica Series, the Steve Nace Racing Promotions (SNRP) flat track will feature Amateur and Pro-Am racing on the Brickyard’s quarter-mile flat track
that’s located inside turn three at the Speedway on Friday, August 21. The following day, the AMA All-Stars will take over the oval with a full slate of racing,
including a round of the Hooligan National Championship and a special invitational Bultaco Astro class
.

It looks like you can take a lap on the IMS road course for $15, I didn't see any details yet on date etc.

Latus Motors Racing is set to return to the American Flat Track scene in a major way with the announcement the team has signed
James “The Rocket” Rispoli to contest the 2020 AFT Production Twins championship aboard a Harley-Davidson XG750R.

To be honest, I was getting a bit disillusioned with the direction Flat Track was going. I think it's the most exciting motorsport to watch, but I was getting really tired of seeing a straight Indian factory team procession when I went to the races. And I really didn't like some of the crap Indian pulled. Like requiring a rider to only ride Indians at all the Nationals, or having to keep the ugly stock paint job on the bikes or there would be no Contingency money. They may have built a better race bike, but they wanted to control everybody and everything.

However; with the rise of the Production Twins class, it's starting to look like there might be a class where a good, non-factory rider can possibly win. And it also leaves room for innovative mechanics and teams to help Flat Track to move into the future, like the Crosley - Howerton team did with their Kawasaki a couple of years ago.

Now that the MoFoCo is offering a Production Twins bike at an affordable price and they're throwing good contingency money in the pot, as well as the Yamaha MT - 07 and all the little teams running Kawasaki twins, things are really looking up. I hope that AFT moves the Production Twins class up in another year or so to become the premier class; like The AMA did back in the 80s, when Superbike took over the top spot from Formula bikes. Or like back in the '30s when Class C took top billing over Class A. I really prefer to see the "Little Guys" have a shot at winning instead of just wondering which Indian Factory rider (who all look like clones of each other) will win.
