Been riding without booze since 1988. Only thing Ive found is that instead of buying a new bike every year or two, due to wrecks, Ive been stuck with the same one for 6 years now.

Dont miss drinking or smoking, and have replaced those habits with a toy box full of neat things.

You would think they would post a sign that wasn't so blurry.

I was a charter member, full patch holder and officer in a chapter of a sober club years ago. I learned a lot about riding while there, and enjoyed it immensely. I was the first female member of any chapter, which was a gas, because clubs that exclude women members are into a mindset that doesn't do it for me, so I was happy to break that barrier. When some 1% like attitude (territorialism) got ugly, I turned in my colors and left. To me, it's more fun to just get out with a few peaceable, pleasant, and fun riders and enjoy the ride without all the rules and business that go with a club, or go putt on my own. I hope you can find some like-minded people to ride with, as it is great fun and friend wise, as long as huffiness doesn't run with the club. Look around, you'll find people to connect with. If people want to drink when they aren't on the road, that doesn't faze me. I figure everybody gets an allotment of alcohol (to use or not) in their lives, I just ran through mine really fast and I realize that. Most of my friends joke about our past, but we are very serious about the fact that it would be a big mistake for us personally to do it again. We just live and let live. Good luck in your quest!

Are you trying to fit in with a certain group of people or alienate yourself from others?
Maybe you need a pat on the back for a job well done? If so, good for you!

Most of us are well past 22 yrs and don't fit into any kind of category or clique.
We could care less if you enjoy doing colon cleanses and going to church everyday or if you like to run heroin in your veins daily.
Everyone here likes Sportsters and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from having that in common with each other.

Don't limit yourself and it will help you develop into a more diverse and unique individual.

Nice bike too!
Like the brother said. We don't give a shit what ya do.( Except he said it more diplomatically then me.) It's how you do. Welcome aboard. From the very weed smokin', coke snortin' speed doin' beer and whiskey drinking dirty south.

Well, I got my Sporty from the money I saved just by quiting smoking. What I realized is that I rarely if ever went into the zippy mart and just bought a pack of cigs. I'd usually get a coke or coffee, lottery tickets a snack or something. So when I quit, I was automagically saving five bucks plus, a day but then I realize it was more like 7-10 or more! Did not take long for me to have enough for a Vulcan 750, and then less than a year later, a $3000 95 Sporty 1200 that looks like it rolled off the line yesterday.

Seems to me it shouldn't take much effort at all to be straight edge if you don't have a problem. Personally, I can't understand what it's like no to be addicted to someone. I guess I can take or leave strawberry poptarts. Is that what it's like?
