So, in for 3 hours of surgery, but while in there the surgeon found a tumour on the small colon and had to call in another surgeon to remove it while i was opened up, so christ knows how long i was under for!
Back home now with a hell of a cut down the lower stomach area, with district nurses coming every day to re-dress and take blood samples etc. Not allowed to lift anything for a while, so definitely no riding for a good while! But the crappy winter weathers here so no real problem.
Wishing you a speedy recovery my Friend. Hope you heal fast and enjoy good health from now

Many thanks for the good wishes and i hope you stay "all clear".
I should have said also, that i don't know if my tumour was benign or otherwise, i guess i will have to wait until my next check up to find out! Fingers crossed!

I am doing pretty damned well Andy. Sitting in the waiting area at Onc Outpatients waiting for treatment and thinking about the year that had just flown by. It had spread to my spine in the middle of the year; but I got swapped into a different trial and my last scan a few weeks ago showed it had cleared all those new mets, just the shadow of the small stubborn one remaining on my liver. So yes, like you, I'm in agreement about the incredible progress they are making with research and the new immunotherapy approaches are certainly giving hope. Just hope they don't price the new drugs and treatments out of reach for governments and insurers.
