Quit on your own terms, not because your facing jail and the loss of your liscense. Once alcohol takes control small problems start and that leads to bigger and worse sheet.

Respect for you acknowledging you have a problem, that's the most important step.
Respect for those responding in such a helpfull way, goes to show you're not alone outthere.
You can do it. Hang in there, road will be long and winding, but that's a big plus for any Sporty rider.

Ya gotta control your 'demons' just like that twitchy right hand on the throttle....
a little bit is ok, too much brings nothin' but trouble....

I have been clean and sober since Feb 10 2001 and I can honestly tell you it is about a LOT more than just drinking. I would definately reccomend going to AA or NA meetings get a sponser and work the 12 steps. I had quit before but a dry drunk is still a drunk and one miserable SOB I can tell you all about it. Working the steps has transformed my life and the idea of getting drunk or high is not even slightly appealing. I feel to good about myself and life in general to want a drink or a joint and don't neeed it to relax or unwind. I get along better with my family, coworkers, customers (even the A holes), I am not angry an uptight anymore and I sleep good at night.

I grew up in my dads two bars he had, I seen the worst of people. My mother was a nasty drunk. Came home from school on day and me and my dads stuff was on the curb, that was one of the last times ive talked to her, thats 30yrs ago now and she is still alive. Being drunk has a terrible affect on the people around you, that can have long term affects on you and them. If I have a six pack in a Years time thats alot, I like to be in control of my enviroment and also set a good example for my kids.

i was looking at the 12 steps on line. im not sure if they were the real ones but it seams if your not religious at all like me, the steps wont work as smoothly.

My advice would be to stop drinking. Give it a rest. In a few years you might find that you can drink casually and never have a problem. Or you might not. The really nasty addictions tend to start young, so if you feel you might be on that path, you probably are.
