Default Fat boy wheel

Putting a fatboy wheel on my 79 ironhead rear, can't find it now but someone advised to put the wheel on reverse and it fits fine, my question is, there markings on inner side around the core of the fathead wheel on one side , to be reverse what side should that marking be on a sportster.

Are you talking about the grooves around the bearing hub? Those indicate which bearing should be pressed in first and that part would not change when the wheel is reversed. They look like this...

Hi Bluto, thanks for the input. The fatboy wheel has numbers stamped on on side around the central hub, I was after using that for a guide on orientation

I think you need to go by bolt sizes, the Fatboy has the sprocket (7/16"-14 UNC) and rotor (3/8"-16 UNC) on opposite sides from the Sportster.

I wouldn't trust that they always put the numbers on the same side.
