On what part do you disagree?

* All BT's have either single fixed or dual 4-pot calipers which are significant improvements on the single 2-pots on all current Sportys other than the Roadsters. I'm not sure if the Softails are Brembos like the FLH models, but the FLH's are truly fantastic.

* All BT's are available with ABS, and the FLHs are available with RDRS that includes cornering ABS, and traction control. But even the BTs without that have as good or better ABS systems available as the Sportster.

• All BT's have shocks that are at least as good as what's available on the Sportsters. Even the lowered Softails are not as low as the lowered Sportsters and have at least the same or better ground clearance and Ken angeles. Larger stiffer forks pay dividends here as well. You should know that US Domestic Sportsters all (but the Roadster) generally have lesser lean angles than the Softails and Big Twins though there may be an exception. But most BTs still have

• There's nothing about these bikes that prevent you from fall riding in mountains any more than you would a Sportster whose only benefit is a little less weight and slightly less wheelbase.

Don't me wrong I still love Sportsters for what they are, but the BTs have come a long way with improvements while the Sportsters have largely stayed still.

you have a beautiful and cool bike...

but for the rest...
you should know...
had rolled tens thousands miles on Sporties
and you ride even Ducs and Guzzies...
'cause you still ride them isn't it?

a bus with improven suspension and a more powerful engine...
still remains a bus...

on mountains... uphill... downhill...
you had to plan carefully the roads you ride on them...
as they have not a reverse gear... and since weigh half a ton...
the risk is even to remain stuck on a dead end...
without chanches to turn around and go back

let alone riding in winter on mountain with a bagger...

believe me... i know what i'm saying
i rode overthere since a lifetime... with a lot of bikes...
i have seen many things happen on that roads...
let your bagger enjoy the highways...
there is her territory
there her is far superior to my modest and cheap bike
on speed and on straight roads

a Sporty, or a Guzzi (what you prefer)... ligther... more nimble... far less cumbersome...
can do thing unheard for BTs on curves...

it does not need great brake power...
if you have medium strength in your hand...
a single front disk with ABS is more than enough to a stock 883 and for a stock 1200
if you have 50 HPs delivered the way the Sporty does...
you don't need much electronics... except for ABS...
it's like a parachute
you ride like she wasn't equipped with it...
if you feel it turning on... that mean you had done something wrong...


IMO you don't need neither a more powerful engine...
this could be subjective though...

and last but not least

Poetic I'll give you but exaggerated in many cases and it doesn't change the facts that the new Softail chassis is MUCH improved and more capable than a lot of current Sportys in lean angles, comfort, power etc.

Funny I rode my bagger with some Guzzis and BMWs in the mountains on Saturday. Sometimes quite aggressively others not as much.

There were a few curves I would have been faster on the Duc or Goose but not that many. And much faster on any of them would have been well, the real world isn't a race track and shouldn't be.

you are right only when compare a 2016 bike (despite a bagger)
with bikes of 30 years ago... configured like half tourer themselves

and i was not speaking about races on mountain... (with a stock Sporty... figure out)...
i was speaking about the thing if your bike would be able to cross some passes... i used to ride in fall or winter...
you had no idea how they are...

for the rest... if you feel better... i can even admit...

a bagger on mountain twisties in winter is as nimble and secure as a Sporty...
