The HD dealers are running out of ''obsolete'' parts for bikes that really don't seem that old. Better baby what you have.

I suppose aftermarket parts will still be available. Remember, the evo engine is what saved the motor company from bankruptcy.

NLXL,

I think the chances of any big Harley (Sportster, Big Twin, the new V-twin) for the North American market having an engine that is sourced offshore are slim and none.

My sweet smelling smoooooooth rubber mount doesn't need a trap door 'cos it has an infallible transmission

But, at the end of the day, we're all Sportster owners who enjoy the model we have for what it is.

Of course, having the history it does, there will be aftermarket, take off and even some upgrade parts available for my bike till I can no longer ride it...

I say best of luck with whatever they do... (but it would be a shame to drag the Sportster name down by applying it to an inferior product)
In a worse case scenario where I feel that the 2020 model is no longer the Sportster I want, there's always hope:

My current bike is now 27 years of age. When they change the 2020 model too much, there's always the 2019 model. When the 2019 model is 27 years old it will be 2046. I will be 83 (when I keep breathing of course)...So there's hope!
