Default 1999 Buell X1 Full Restoration

Finally got this bike finished and back on the road. Bought it from the original owner in 2013, when I still lived in Boise. Rode it for a year, moved to Miami, and blew it up. Destroyed the engine. Bent pushrod, collapsed lifter, and the wristpin retainer clip broke and killed a piston and jug. Bike sat for a year and a half before I finally got off my butt and rebuilt it...in my living room. Went a little farther than a rebuild though. Just wound up re-doing the entire bike. Not too often you get to see these things get taken care of in person, but I'm sure people here can appreciate seeing one of these get saved.

Daddy208, that is a very nice job you did to restore that Buell. I'm impressed. I'm doing my first build from a 1997 Sportie frame. I'm going after the bobber look, it's any easier build than most so it's a good place to start.

Good for you and for bringing it back! If anyone sees this, then spots that bike, they will surely know where they've seen it before...is that zebra stripe vinyl on your seat? Woo-hoo!

Yeah, zebra seat haha and candy paint. Just what I wanted. Glad you dudes appreciate it, thing has been a major labor of love, considering these bikes aren't really worth anything. Which is a shame, I love everything about it. Was a motorcycle technician for about two years, and these bikes really are great to ride. Nothing handles a tight mountain road like a Buell.

Nice! love the yellow, the seat you can have but to each his own.
Thanks for putting it back together but please keep it out of the Chopper boys hands.

More random photos from the build, including the smoked piston/jug and some before and after from polishing and the build in general.

Thanks man! I love it, but it's the bane of my existence. I have a lot of work into this bike, and pretty much the only thing people want to talk about is the seat
