Hate to bring up a sleeping subject
I have gotten around 62 miles a tankful on average before the light goes on. I actually have been careful to how much I fill just for this thread. I use my 48 around town, it hardley ever hits the freeway. I have other bikes I can get out of town on. I bought this one because I loved the look of the thing.

I think anyone buying one needs to be aware they are buying a 2 gallon tank and what that means. You just are not going to want to hit the highway on it.

My wife has actually asked about the tanks size, I told her that it gives me a reason not to sell the big twin.

My light comes on around 75 miles. In my area its mostly rolling hills and two lane roads, lots of twistys. I usually ride around 60 mph and am pretty laid back with throttle inputs. The range of the 48 with the 2.1 tank easily gets me from one small town to the next. I don't find refueling a hassle at all. It gives me a chance to talk with folks and take a breather. The stock tank on the 48 fits my riding style perfectly.
I do realize the bike isn't for everyone, and agree with Jammantoo that folks considering a 48 should understand what they're getting in to in terms of range.

The whole point of the thread was to look at how far folks can go before having to fill up in practice.
Excuse me for answering in the best way that I can. I'll retract my vote and will be sure to answer only exactly as prescribed.

Great job at encouraging participation.

First 3300 mile trip was 53 fillups in 3 days at around 62.25 miles per tank. Trip back same route was 48 fillups in two days at about 68.75 per tank. From fl to ca and back. Never ran dry and id guess longest was streching close to 80 miles. I did carry spare fuel but never needed it.
