I ended up putting a fresh gasket on it. I was surprised how much crud accumulated under the inner cover. Much of which was from rust forming on the 2 screws securing the inner cover. For now I just put some blue loctite on the button head screws and called it a day. If they seem to work their way loose I'll just tap them for a size up.

All I can do is state what I fixed on my 1990.

Harly points stand off bolts are 8-32 thread/

When my posts broke off in da case
I drilled out case to 5/16 coarse thread. Tapped the holes. Made up my own heli-coil out of a old 5/16 bolt. Tapped the center of 5/16 bolt for 8-32 screw. Ground a slot for screw driver to drive in heli coil.

Blue Loctite. Top of plate post is also tapped out for 8-32 screws.

I like that "italian helicoil" Rok.

Those heli insertion tools are expensive!
