Default mainshaft rollers size

I have a bag of 100, 9095 rollers that are supposed to be .1562 OD, and a check of the first 6 I took out of the bag miked .1563. Is this a problem?

I know somebody here said if 2 out of the 23 are 2/10 over, that can cause them to skate. I'm wondering if all of them are 1/10 over if this is too tight.

Arithmetic: isn't .1563 1/1000 over .1562, which is way smaller than 1/10?

Nope, synthetic oil is what makes them skate.

when measuring down to .0001" ambient temperature has an effect, just holding them in your fingers will change things hahaha.

Si

To measure +-.0001 temperature is a factor. Also need to check your micrometer against a known gauge.

Shops doing aircraft/military work have to send their gauge blocks out every year to be certified. Then they can use them to calibrate their measurement equipment.

Getting back to the original question, " if all 23 rollers are .0001" oversize will it be too tight?"
It's impossible to answer without knowing the exact ID of the race.

really roller size is moot. you must fit the race to the roller, fsm.

Yes that's true.

I think Goldmember was asking if he could put slightly oversize rollers in without honing the race bigger. If he already had standard rollers at an unusually large running clearence then it's POSSIBLE he could and end up with an acceptable running fit without touching the race.

But we don't have all the facts. The size and condition of the race or if it's a new race and why he even needs new rollers. So he asked a question that can't be answered, yet.

No, I agree. It's not my build. Don't know exactly what Goldmember has got going.
