I found the description for replacing the release bearing confusing in Sportsterpedia but if the release plate, part #11, is not removed from the pressure plate, part #25, then it is obvious which way in the bearing goes as you want the adjustment screw, part #6, pressing on the wide part of the inner race.

This is only possible if you have the clutch apart as the case in this post to upgrade the clutch pack.

Andy, the release bearing can be replaced through the derby cover, need a good pair of snapping pliers. I did “Sportsterdudes248” wife’s in the parking lot at the first Galeton, Pennsylvania East Coast Meet n Greet.

I know but as I was eliminating the spring plate I didn't need to separate those two parts.

Andy - If you can explain what was confusing, I'll try to add information to the SP to clarify for others.

At the time I did my clutch it was confusing to read lots of thin and wide and wide and thin. At one point I got lots of wides!

Having read it again slowly it does make sense. It might be it just needs one sentence to describe the side view picture which makes it all clear.

It is important to orient the bearing in the right direction when pressing the bearing into the Release Plate. Be sure to purchase the genuine FAG brand or another high quality bearing (as knockoff versions do not hold up).

The wide side of the 7200B outer bearing race should be placed into the release plate first. This also means that the narrow part of the inner bearing race is first into the plate.

When correctly assembled, the narrow part of the outer race and the wide part of the inner race will each be exposed on the insertion side of the release plate. The Adjustment Screw is inserted into that wide side of the inner race, as shown below.

Thank you both.

With that input, I reworked the section.
