Never thought about it, but you may have stumbled onto the best use for Rotella. Someone gave me a 5 gallon jug of it once, the lawnmowers didn't even like it. Wound up putting it in an old slant six Dodge that was on it's last legs anyway. Oil is kinda optional in those anyway.

I traded in an '02 Kawasaki Mean Streak on my Sportster. I bought it new in '02. It was broken in with Rotella T4 15w-40 dino then was run for 17 yrs on Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic. Still used no oil when I traded it.

Ask tomcat the same question 2 months from now and you'll get a different answer.

I use to buy walmart out of their cheap 2 cycle oil in gallon jugs and dump one in each tank of my pete every time I fueled. Worked great for lubing the injectors/upper cyclinders which todays diesel fuel lacks (little to no sulfur) thanks to yours truly...the EPA.
The results were noticeable and almost immediate when you're dropping over $1000 every time you fuel and usually twice a week.
I'm sure today's gas has the same issues when it comes to lubrication of injectors etc. and could benefit from lubricating additives to quiet them and increase longetivity.

Apparently your meds interfere with your reading comprehension too.

You've obviously had better luck than I've had with the stuff. In '03 the dealership screwed up and put Rotella 15/40 in my Mack. In 5000 miles I'd went through a gallon and a half just keeping it topped up, oil was seeping out of the valve cover and oil pan gaskets and front main, and I couldn't pull a hill full throttle because the oil pressure started dropping when the oil temp was 10 degrees cooler than it did with Bulldog oil (Macks own brand of oil). Main reason I ran the Bulldog oil and filters on that truck was that Mack would allow a 50K oil change interval without cancelling the warranty, other brands you were supposed to change oil at 20K, so for an extra $100 dollars at PM time I could get 2.5 times more out of an oil change. I spent half a day cleaning that engine back up when we changed the oil back to Bulldog, and oil consumption was never a problem again. I got rid of that truck at 650K, wishing now that I hadn't.
My little brother put Rotella in my dad's truck once because it was cheaper than DELO at Walmart, same song, second verse. Maybe it's a thing that you have to start with it if you're going to run it without problems, I've heard that about some brands of oil. For my money I'll stick with the blue jug when it comes to diesel oil, DELO has never let me down.

My Sporty gets HD Synthetic, because a couple years back the better half found a dozen of the premade oil change kits on eBay for $50. For the miles I get to ride every year, I'm probably good for another 10 years or so there.

As for the Red Line oil, that has to be some good stuff. A guy I used to work for built race engines and that's all he'd run in the race engine. His son had a mini stock with a Pinto engine, he'd run that in 3rd gear at 9000 rpm on the straights.

They took the lead out of gas in the late 80s. Lead was the upper cylinder lubricant. I think 75 was the first year that new cars required unleaded fuel because of the catalytic convertor.
Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel fuel started being a thing in '08 or '09 I think, when the first trucks with DPF started coming out. My dad just puts a jug of Howes Diesel Treat in at every fill-up. We always used that in winter for anti-gel, he uses it year round now and hasn't had any injector trouble. Since '09 when I got my first truck with a DPF I switched to Power Service for anti-gel, for some reason Howes makes it want to regen twice as often.
