I bought a twenty dollar cover from cycle gear, it's a gray camo color, only to keep prying eyes off the bike when out of town...it fits in its own pouch, of course, getting it back in the pouch is sometimes a pita....it has two hooks on it to keep it from blowing off...works for me....I don't cover the bike when in my garage, I use to but was a hassle to remove everyday..

No cover. If I used a bike cover, how would it get clean when I park it in the rain?

I used to have a half cover for my commuter bike but that was more for protection from the sun than the rain.
The bike was black and sat in direct sunlight for 9 hours a day at work.

Yes, keeps the bike dry and the curious eyes off... nothing much to see.
I just use the thin and light $20 ish covers. They work and are easy to pack. Just let the pipes cool before covering.

(I don’t tour with the Sportster. I have a sport touring bike with bags for that.)

However, I often park the Sportster up by the drive and not in the barn during riding season. I put a cover overnight to keep the rain and the dew off. Also to save the rubber and vinyl from UV light.

I used a cover back when I worked and my scooter was sitting, behind a fence in an area with company vehicles, in the sun all day. The cover protected the paint from being faded by the desert sun.

Now that I am retired, the cover has never been taken out of it's box.

Yes, I use one. Got mine from Revzilla. It's an Oxford Stormex Motorcycle Cover.
