2005 883C, pretty much as I got it in 2014. Previous owner had added the windshield and saddle bags, detachable sissy bar, relocated the rear turn signals, changed to 11" rear shocks (essentially making it a hardtail), K&N air filter element, and Screamin Eagle pipes. At this point all I'd changed was adding the stickers to the tank and some Drag Specialties grips.

Shortly after we moved to the new house in 2016, after I'd changed to Pirelli MT66 tires, added a cell phone mount, a free and only slightly bent crash bar, and the windshield was removed. The story on the windshield being off is, I had the Sporty and my daughter's Street sitting outside while I was cleaning the garage, and I hear the better half screaming. I run out to see whats up and both bikes are on their side with her leg stuck under the Sporty. I was scared that she'd hurt herself, she was scared I was going to be upset because she'd hurt the bikes. She'd gotten on it and tried to stand it up and it went over. After I got the bike off her and found she wasn't hurt I started laughing about it and she'd thought I really lost it. I hated windshields in general and that ugly yellow tinted windshield in particular, so I figured it was a good excuse to take it off. The very next ride we ran into some rain and I decided that I was too old to be cool and I wanted the windshield back.

After adding the new windshield glass (black tint looks so much better), new crash bar, changed turn signal lenses, and relocated the front turn signals, and set up for solo running when I met my little brother at his favorite burger joint. The Mustang Vintage Wide seat was thrown in when I got the bike, but I didn't care for the looks of it at the time, so I ran the stock seat. After the first 300 mile ride we went on with the 11" rear shocks, the stock seat proved inadequate. I tried the Mustang seat to see if it was better and the difference was amazing, so I got the matching passenger seat and oversize backrest. One more item for the "too old to be cool" list, although the look of the solo seat has kinda grown on me.

As she sits now. I added a package rack to the sissy bar and got the yellow paint marker to do the letters on the front tire. Not pictured is the 12 volt power outlet I added so I could charge the phone.

It’s been a a lot of work but I’ve enjoyed the journey. Finally starting the 883-1275 conversation this winter!

Originally it looked like this in about 1962.

Over the next 57 years I slowly replaced everything on it except for the mirrors and the key ring. Now it looks like this.
