It seems that 95% (or more) of my time with my Sportster is on the road and I don't stop long enough for anyone to comment. I usually do day-trips by myself or with my buddies and only stop long enough to eat or hit the bathroom.

About the only people who give my bike a second look are the ones who know what it is. Others think it's a new-ish Sportster and don't look twice, or they don't know an old Ironhead from a brand new Fat Boy.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

XLX was introduced in 1982, it had a new frame. I still have the Cycle magazine with their write up on it. So..Yes, I notice XLX's whenever their's one present...something real clean looking about them.

At bike nights people will check it out and talk to who ever they are with about it. Never anything bad but no one ever talks to me about my bike

Yeah people notice in traffic and i feel safer knowing that, my neighbours notice in the morning and that’s starting to concern me. As for comments from people i meet they’re mostly positive. But it is maybe a lil too loud ...

Since putting the Hammer 1275 and the Thunderheader, I've noticed people looking as I pass by. I think it's because of the unique sound.

Hammer "Smash" head porting
Mikuni HSR 45
