No unusual 4th gear whine on my 06 Sporty with helical cut gears but you should hear 5th gear in the new 07 on TC 96's!

Now we've got the 4th gear whine sorted, anybody got any info on these Barnet lock-up clutches that are right easy on the hand, but as the revs build up, they increase pressure to prevent clutch slip? I wonder if triking will put extra strain on the clutch as she is now a 1200. Cheers Dave

I think you should stop riding your bike until you find out where the other one has gone!

Just lost 4th gear in my 04 1200R. Not even gettin on it. Was ridin along at 45 mph and it popped out of gear and 4th was gone. 22,000 miles. Mine whined from day 1 and H-D said it was supposed to. Sucks. Gonna have to take a look. Oh boy! Wish it had a back door.

Made like that so you know you've got one more gear to go!

2014 xl883r from new has had a whine in 4th gear between 2300 and 2850 rpm, all other gears quiet, is this normal? bike runs great everywhere else.

Mine whines a wee bit in third as well; but the 4th gear is louder! Earplugs cut it down!
