Are you adjusting pushrods with the motor stone cold?

If you adjust them hot the valves will not close when it is cold.

Yes, engine was stone cold when I adjusted the push rods. I tried adjusting them 3 times now. Still same results. It seems fine when cold but only for a few minutes. Once it heats up it starts to spit at idle.

I don't have cable for my tach so not sure what I am idling at. I played with carb some more and higher idle did not seem to matter. After the last attempt I might have made it worse than it was before.

I wonder if it is idling with the throttle plate to far open?

Do a lean best idle set on a hot motor, then take the carb off and look to see if the transfer ports are getting uncovered...

Also check that all transfer holes are open and clear.

I think you might be on to something here Ryder! Wondering if anything jumps out at you when you watch the video I posted here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZF-...channel=KennyV

If throttle plate is too far open, are you saying this could be as simple as adjusting the idle screw? Holy Throttle Plates Batman! You know what, come to think of it, I had to replace my throttle and cable when I rebuilt it. The new throttle I noticed that it does not always like to spring back all the way on its own sometimes. Sometimes I can manually twist it back further than it wants to go. This might be one of those Eureka moments. Could it really be this simple?
