Might not me the problem but if you're going into the primary i would replace the bearing on the clutch adjustment screw, they're only around $10. I've gone through 2 . If i remember correctly right before the last one gave up the ghost i was having problems adjusting the whine out of the primary. I've always adjusted the primary by ear so it might have been the problem atleast for me
