I'm quite happy with the sound of Krome werks slip-on's 25lbs of potatoes worth

If you want to lower the idle you would have to use a race tuner or the new TTS product if you don't want to purchase aftermarket ECM.

I sent a email to dynojet asking about this...
they replied
"You can adjust the amount fuel the bike gets at idle and that in turn will affect the idle speed."
(using the power commander III USB)

I just re-installed the baffles in my SE Slip-ons after the following modifications were completed:

1. Removed the fiberglass wrap and screen.
2. Drilled out all the holes with a 3/8" drill bit
3. Drilled out an addtitional eight holes following the existing pattern. (3 of which were on a row by themselves opposite side of the diverter tab)
4. Drilled a 3/8" hole in the center of the diverter tab.

The result was a much deeper sound during idle and a progressively increasing sound on acceleration. I'm running a stock a/c with no ecm mods on a 08 1200C.

it just depends if you want to spend that much on a set of pipes...

I have that sound with V&H shortshots w/Quiet Baffles. I used the nightrider 02 IED to fatten it up to 14.2 AFR and now it really hauls the mail. still use the stock AC.

the burn is 100% ok, healed pretty fast, no scar, just red skin zone. thanks for asking

btw, I got today my power commander III, when I get the map right, I will share it... so far can't put the seat back on will try again tomorrow

I have a 2008 Nightster and used the 1 3/4" hole saw removal tool for my baffles. I really like the sound compared to all my friends various after market pipes. It has a much lower note to it. Very low frequency. I set off car alarms just putting by. Its not loud, just very low. Although its loud if you "get on it"

I put on a set of Samson Legend pipes, and it made a huge difference in both sound and throttle response. Out of pure paranoia, I took my 08 1200C to the shop and had them do a software download change to adjust the EFI. I've read that exhaust swaps results in a too lean EFI setting, which would fubar the engine. I didn't want that, for obvious reasons. The idle is maybe a tad lower, and it has a kick arse potato sound, if a little fast for that 'traditional' Harley low idle sound. That's what we get with Sportys...higher idle...hell, that means she's ready to rip!

I'll probably toss in a better air filter and call the performance upgrades done. I've had it a year now and have blown away too many other bikes to count. I just wish the seat had a better buttstop. With forward controls and the sloping seat, it's easy to bury the throttle and have your butt on the rear seat.

Back on topic, though, going with a complete exhaust swap, while expensive, is probably the best way to go. Drilling out baffles and mufflers is just going to cause engine problems with these EFI engines. The easy flowing exhaust lets the THUMPthumpthump (not putputput) out and everyone will see you. So give the Samson's a look if you have about $550 to spare.
