no,not yet anyway, and I have over 7,000 miles now. The gas in the tank cools the pump so I suppose if your were to run your tank dry it might overheat and fail. Only thing so far has been having my off/run switch fail on me.

sometimes when you turn the switch on, i'll hear the pump kick in, but light won't come on, and will not start, and sometimes the light will come on and go off normal, but still won't start and i'll have to redo it again. this has happened
a handful of times at 1300 miles. I need to call and have them check it out. I guess.

About 25 years back, Honda had VFR's with fuel pumps failing right and left - they chose to do nothing. They also had a big mess of 600cc Hurricanes with bad cranks - they chose to do nothing. Kawasaki has a known problem with ALL KLR 650's regarding the balancer lever, with probably at least a 25% failure rate within 20,000 miles - and they too, choose to ignore the situation. Once the items are out of warranty, factories easily wash their hands of it all. So, "HD is gonna have to do something". They will act if they feel it is worth market image, and won't if it's only a handful of units.

My point behind this thread was to see if this was a common problem (which it seems that it is not). If it was a common problem, HD would have to do something due to the fact that these are all brand new bikes and under warranty. In Texas, 3 failures for the same reason is cause for the Lemon Law. Now, it looks like there aren't that many failures so HD can just replace and go on about their business of bilking everyone on their Japanese manufactured chrome pieces.
