You can always try them.

Haven't talked to the guys at HD Developments in Melbourne for a fair while but they might be able to help as well. The owner is a keen 900 guy.

FH-Glad you had a happy ending to the search. The title of the post threw me for awhile. Sounds like your support for IH's in OZ is as good as you need. After I read your post I did a search for your part. Not much out there. I need to find a shop in the USA as good as you have in OZ.

Harley dealerships...Meh. Haven't been able to use them for years.

("Bugscuffle USA) I'm gonna use that

No, no, no.

Bugscuffle is a REAL place. It's maybe 50 miles out of San Antonio, Texas.

What's REALLY fascinating is that about 1 mile out od Bugscuffle is "The Ace Cafe". Plagiarism on the name but there it is.

It's a private motorcycle museum. When I say private I just mean "not Gov't run". And the owner has some interesting and unique bikes. AJS to Vellocette. The only Krauser BMW I've ever seen in the flesh for example. Worth the trip.

If your interested I'll tell you something funny about the owner.

Ferrous I think you just like to say “Bugscuffle” every chance you can just because it sounds like a mythical place! One of my favorite areas of Texas!

Does the cafe have a jukebox??

I don't remember a Jukebox but the coffee is good and the hosts are great.

You can stay at the Bugscuffle Ranch (they have cabins). Worth the trip.

Very nice scenic rides in the area and if you get bored you can always go into San An and pick a fight in a bar.

Bugscuffle population is about 12 I think.

Just curious on the Ace cafe jukebox. It’s been my understanding, and could very well be folklore, but you were a “cafe racer” if at the Ace Cafe (London ??) you would play a song on the jukebox, get on your bike, run the laid out road course and get back to the cafe before the song ended.
Anyone else hear the same??

Urban dictionary: Bug Scuffle - n., a brief, vigorous, public dispute between insignificant persons, esp. of those of low or sleazy character.
"The arriving-officers were told that the bar fight was not major - just a bug
scuffle".

Been to Tejas twice. Son went to boot camp there and then stationed there for awhile. If I ever go back you can bet I'll try to make it to Bugscuffle and the Ace Cafe.
Still think Bugscuffle USA is a great way to describe any backwater town. Nobody but a small handful ever even heard of it....cat's out of the bag now though.
So, yeah I'll bite, I'd like to hear the Ace Cafe owner story and also how you wound up there?

The Jukebox story is right AFAIK.

Well, I wound up in Bugscuffle because of a bike rally I was invited to attend. Yes, it's a long way from Queensland but they invited me when I had been drinking.

The rally was great I'm glad I went.

I thought at first they were pulling my leg about the Ace Cafe being just down the road.

Long story short (for me) while I was inside browsing the bikes the owner heard me say something to someone and realise I had an Australian accent. He told me he had just come back from Oz and had bought a bike there.
He proceeded to tell me about the old "Gentleman" who he bought the bike from, (A 350 Manx Norton) living in the bush, miles from anyone and a recluse that no one else would ever find. The man was VERY secretive about himself and where he lived.
But he mentioned one detail about the man he bought the bike from, a handlebar mustache.

I just looked at him and said "Oh, you bought it from Eric ?"

He just looked at me in stunned silence,

Eric Lucas, yeah I know him. He still races with us. Eric would have been about 83 at that time. It really is a small world.

So, two old guys, hiding out in backwater retreats with some of the most desirable motorcycles in the world squirreled away.

It is a small world for sure.
In a similar story, not to take away fro the marvel of Bugscuffle, my wife and myself were vacationing in Costa Rica back in the early 2000’s. We went on the obligatory zip line adventure deal. On those, you pair up with 10-12 people and you zip line from platform to platform above the rainforest. As each person goes, the group waits for all before heading to the next. In this time, small talk is generated and you begin to discuss where your platform mates hail from. Another couple hailed from NJ. “Oh really?” my wife says. “We live in AZ by way of NJ. What exit? ( you Jersey f**ks know what I mean). “Small town of Old Bridge”was their reply. “Oh really??” we simultaneously retorted. Turns out, here we are in the middle of the jungle on an 8’x 8’ platform with 10 strangers, two of whom live 4 houses down from my parents (my childhood house). 4 houses, that’s about 100 yards. Now that is coincidence! No BS.
Now I’m just waiting for the day I start jawing with an I H owner somewhere and they’ll tell me I should look them up on this place called the XL forum. “Look me up, I go by such and such and I’m on my way to Bugscuffle!”
