We've had reports of 30-35 psi being the cracking pressure of the bypass.
I just wonder sometimes if it opens at a lower pressure at times.
Undoubtedly you haven't had a big problem with it staying open as have 86-90 owners.
Just wondering.

It's sorted. Album is updated.

Most of the detail is in the album, but a precis here.

I got a new pressure switch. Could be Chynese copy but it looks like a Harley part. NCC1701D, latest version. This has a thread and is supplied with no nut. I found one in the odds box.

I also got an 8mm x 12mm grub screw. I measured the outlet hole at 7.6mm so a 10mm would have been too big. The gap was small so I didn't tap it, just let it cut it's own thread. Loctite 272 and now I have no valve. I removed the innards just be be certain no issues could be had. I still feel the pipe trick would have worked, but this is better.

I trimmed the pipes a little and blew them out to be sure. Replaced everything and then changed the connector for the switch. Now I have good flow back to the tank, more than I had before AND a working light. It goes out!

I have a couple of tweaks to do, when it's cooled down. Replace the silencer and exhaust covers. Tank off and tidy up my wiring underneath as it's pulling too tight. Add my rear camera. Adjust the gear lever, it's too low.

RIDE! Anywhere, but freaking ride it!

I've had lots of help from so many places. Too many names, but you know if you've helped.

Thank you.

Great news!!
Still like to know what the pressure was and now is though.
Glad to hear it's resolved.
