Default Riding The Badlands in 2021

WARNING: Not a Sporty

Earlier this year we headed out....

...Got a lot of places to ride. First up is the Badlands of South Dakota.

What an amazing place...

...to ride...

...or to just sit and look at the craziness that is the Badlands.

There are nice curves...

...lotta scenery...

...some sweepers...

...more spectacular views...

...other bikes on the road...

...and more bikes behind us.

What a relaxing day riding. Another view from the road.

The Badlands is an unpredictable place. We've been here in fierce winds, rain and lighting, but today is picture perfect.

Hardly any traffic, but every now and then we run into a bit of a clogged up area.

But during a weekday, it is very light. This is probably the worst of it. We've been here before when it was a parking lot.

Yeah, we're going down a pretty steep hill.

The changes in the landscape are everywhere. It is good to be on a bike...a covered wagon would not be so great crossing this place.

OH! This looks like fun!

Going for a little walk after a few hours riding.

Back enjoying the wind...

Mary's checking out the clouds, I'm wondering what is over the next hill.

It is a huge National Park, and we've enjoyed every bit of it today. (244,000 acres)

Great Place to Putt around for a day!

Headed home, I found this guy that hitched a ride with us.

That was our day putting around Badlands National Park, 2021.

Kevin, it is an amazing place, when we were out that way in 2017 we stopped for a lunch break. Before we finished the skies to the west darkened and looked nasty, putting everything aside we headed out of there as the storm hit, turned almost dark, wind whistling and gusting, buckets of rain and lightning everywhere! After almost taking a lightning hit a couple years earlier I avoid any riding in it if at all possible. Out there there was no where to get away from it, just grit your teeth and ride it out.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! When I win the lottery I need one of those toy hauler/travel trailer combos.

Yeah, the weather there can change on a dime...and there is no where to hide from the hail or lightning.

Riding in lightning is NOT something I like to do.

Sounds like you had an adventure!

Glad you enjoyed.

Yeah, traveling with our own home is the bomb...much better than motels.
