Default LOOKING FOR 1981 MILWAUKEE SE OWNERS

I am looking for anyone out there that is still riding the 1981 Milwaukee SE Sportster. I have only found 1 other owner so far. These bikes were manufactured in 1981 after the "buyback" from AMF. They were painted the HD Orange and Black and had a "Milwaukee" label on the front forks. There were approximately 500 made. We're coming up on the 25 anniversary of the buyback so I thought it might be cool to find out if there are anymore of these around. If you think you have one, send me some pictures! I have tried to attach two pictures of my bike here ... hope they work!

I have one, original tank and fenders are boxed up. Brought it to work today. Still working on it though just bought it at a real fair price a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, have a 81 you describe. It was made by AMF/Harley-Davidson. 1982's werw 25 anniversay models made be Harley as Sporsters introduced in 1957. Mine was manufactured in May 1981 at the York, PA factory. The buy-back of Harley from AMF wasn't completed until June 1981. AMF received the intent from the "13" in February 1981to purchase the Harley name from AMF. I purchased mine from the original order and believe it or not it has 4,009 original miles on it. As far as the 500 produced number, well maybe. Original owner stated that every Harley dealer had only 2 available per dealer. I am still researching history of our bikes. The last one seen (original) at Sturgis meet was in 2004. Feel free to emai me at rpeeblesshireman@aol. A guy in Vegas had one for sale and was asking around $5,800 for it. Mine has the "Milwaukee" label on the forks and has the orange and black Harley paint.

I bought a 1981 Milwaukee Sportster in April of 1981. There were 800 available and 4 for promotion. They were the first 800 Harley Davidson's without the AMF label. mine was #512. Got rid of mine in late '82 due to financial reasons. I miss that orange and black sweetheart. The only picture I have of it, sits on a shelf with pictures of other bikes I've owned. I spotted this thread today at work researching some '82-'81 Sportster colors

I remember, too, that HD also sold an Electraglide that year, that was Olive with Orange panels and only made about 1200 of those. The color combination was odd and kinda ugly for 1981.
