I’m not sure about the micron count, but I can tell you I had flow issues with a standard inline filter with the petcock strainer too. If your gas tank is nice and clean inside, there’s no reason that the petcock strainer wouldn’t be sufficient by itself.

Rule of Thumb: if you use an in-line fuel filter, don't use the petcock screen. When using an in-line fuel filter, it's best not to have too much fuel line lower than the Carb. Fuel is gravity fed and if you have too much fuel line below the carb. it will vapor lock the fuel filter under hard acceleration.
