I'm sorry to hear the news on the tumour wasn't what we were all hoping for... A bugger indeed.
Not sure what type of Catheter they are implanting, but I have a Port-a-cath in my right side chest and it has been an absolute blessing. I've had it for over 12months; a bit of discomfort initially laying on my right side, but that passed after a month. Though I still use a sheepskin seatbelt buddy as the belt crosses right over it when I'm driving. It's implanted completely under the skin, so can still swim etc and have had no dramas at all with infection. Added another scar, but, well, what's another one lol Anyhow, it has stopped the stress of constantly searching for suitable veins and the pain when they collapse, and made my treatment visits quicker. Hope you find that yours works out equally as well.

I am so happy you are getting good results Trace that is nice to hear. Yes this year has flown past so fast before we know it Christmas will be here. Keep on keeping on Trace all the best Andy

Sorry to hear this news mate. Hang in there buddy. I have had a catheter in my chest for 4 years now but just put the paper work in last week to get it removed now It is not needed. But I must say it was the best thing a lot better than getting jabbed in the arm all the time for chemo . Let us know how you are doing once you start treatment. All the beat Andy

Well, finally had my last "big" chemo session this week, and i have been given the all clear. I have a couple of small follow up sessions to go through, but they only last an hour as against the 5 hr big ones. After them, a scan to double check all's well and that should be me done! Maybe i will need more but i can only hope not. The implant gets removed after 2 years so i've heard. So it's happy days time for me!
I will have to go back in for an op to fix my stomach (i look pregnant without my body belt on) as the surgeon who did the primary op to fix a ballooned aorta did not tie everything up in case they had to go back in to treat the tumours again, probably some kind of wonder webbing to treat a massive hernia, which it is i suppose.
So, many thanks to those who wished me well, it meant a lot.

So pleased to read you are through the worst of it and are being given positive news. Best wishes for the surgery and hope you recover from it quickly and are able to move on to some quality living again.
