Yup. Bought the bike used and have encountered a few of these along the way. Luckily not in something I'm to worried about so I just drilled them out with ease or vise gripped those suckers. Mostly worried about damaging the casing I guess. But yes, it dose add a few more hrs to a project. That means more beer to........

have you tried one of those hammer impacts?
the type you have to actually hit with a hammer?
I used to have to use them a lot when i rebuilt vintage hondas

Use the bolt extractor kit as a LAST resort. Which is what I had to do. Torx suck on that cover, I torqued them to the recommended tightness and they still want to strip. I will definitely be exploring other options to replace them. Ironically enough I as well have an 07 custom.

i had the same problem about two months ago what i did was drill the head off so i could pop the cover off and then backed out the remaining threads with a vise grip but whatever you do take you time and dont get to frustrated thats when everything screws up

i also replaced the torx heads which strip out even when torqued correctly with chrome allen head bolts (pan head style) which you can torque with no problems
