nothing really definitive, many suggestions on cca and the other battery specs but no actual brands or anything specific enough to make it easy

A lot of folks like the agm batteries for the no maintenance aspect but they cost you. Traditional lead-acid are certainly cheaper if you don’t mind keeping the cells topped off with distilled water. Check both your local Harley dealer and batteries plus store. As far as brands, I’m sure that almost all of them are made in china now so take your pick! Yuasa has been good for me, but currently I have whatever cheap lead-acid battery that is available from batteries plus. Being an xlch, my battery requirements are different/lower than yours.

I have had great luck with AGM. The Lead Acid seem to fail every year or 2.

An AGM by Deka is my go to.....

Have a read thru this thread. Installed that battery in 2012 & it's still going strong. http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3276713

Check standard things like CCA, dimensions, & post alignment to ensure it fits your ride.

The lead acid aren't even available in Australia anymore.
People just won't buy then.

I really like my lithium/ion batteries.
Put one in my '13 FXDC and my '03 XL.
The battery I got for my sporty is over twelve lbs lighter than the lead/acid stock, and less than half the size. May also be mounted upside down, sideways-makes no difference.
Spins the high comp motor better than the lead it replaced.

It was about 80% more in cost is the only minus

Dimensions: 4.25" wide 4.25" tall 3.25" deep

Im not sold on the lithium technology being all that.
Check out Throttle X batteries. Best warranty on the market.
