so it took forever to find a way to post pics, sorry.
80+ cubic inch bike that ran at ATCO,NJ from at least 72-81 judging by the trophys that were with it.
Im looking to find out all the history i can. this bike came to me from a very good friend who bought it from og owners' nephew, ish
I knew it was something when i saw pics aa few years ago.
whoever built this in the day knew there way around big inch sportsers..that is a fact
the more i looked it over the more it was apparent this was A time capsule that was gonna relight the fire for me.
heres what i see so far.
aaxtell +.150 issh big bore, no weld on early casess so i assume 37/16?
early 4 5/8 s&s wheels
mgal and matching intake
Trock ALUMINUM door and tensioner, NEVER knew trock even made alum door
trock petckock
looking through untouched intake, i would hazard a guess at brnch port. huge portss polished intake aand chambers', very nice looking work .
the rest is mostly explained in pics.
hers what stands out you cant see
tedioussly sealed dry clutch with stock early fibers.
the bottom corner of trans has not been blown or repaired, but braced with very nice beads of weld.
high compressssion/ fixed mag. THE KICKER IS ROCK SOLID, NEVER SLIPS. just like i learned from a certain dr. on here..
the rest is a mystery as of now but i intend to disect and learn.
also its a 1-2 kick bike, and it flat out rips. i can attest to having to very good running strokers this bike absolutley moves, wot upshifts no clucth , no problem. it is and absolute pleasure to run .
the rear slick is dated around '74 and looks as such so only aa few test hits so far.
so...who knows what here? i intend to slowly pick it apart and share and learn.

The Trock alum. door and brass petcock also scream 1974.

What's first year for the iron door? 75-76?

Sorry for the long winded non punctuated post, typing was never my thing..
I have 4 laptops and they all have a problem with this forum. my home comp doubles all my "a" and 'S" so its very frustrating.
I did some digging and found this once was out of penseco NJ. the newest trophy was labeled 1982 nmra champion, and most say "ART" on them...im assuming thats an ATCO thing?
9R.. one of the most intriuging things to me is the fact that this bike will go 7000 rpm and never fall off..ive confirmed on dyno. dosent gain but never drops off..i see no reson to push it farther..
to the point thats somthing ive never been able to acomplish..fwiw..
what really has me here is what is NOT done.. other than gen missing its a streetable bike..not a dragster.
no trick breathers,no 4" intake, no oiling mods i see ,, etc...in effect none of the dragster or trick of the week stuff..

The NMRA (National Motorcycle Racing Association) was a division of NHRA. It was short lived. Started in 1979 (pretty sure) and ended in 1982. Races were held near the U.S. east coast.

Curious what "ART" on trophies meant. Did the NMRA trophy have that too and did it say what class it was for?

You've got a great bike. Please post what you find as you tear into it.

I think 1982 is wrong. 1984 was the last year for NMRA

Not unheard of to spin that many revs with that size motor.

The thing that limits rpm with these is not cylinder head air flow as much as

crankcase airflow.

They're weird motors with as much hp potential under the pistons as there is on top

of them.
