You may have to change the connector at the end of the instrument harness in order to plug it into the main harness at Connector 20A/B, which, on a 1999 I believe is a 12-pin shell... But the wire functions are compatible...

Some 1998 versions (maybe all of them) had a 14-pin shell...

See the Sportsterpedia page here:

Thanks for the reply, I have just been scrolling through your links, most helpful ta,,,
Just popped the old speedo off, and found I have a pink wire in the plug socket (7) (12 pin)
I think this is the tacho trigger wire, this matches the wiring loom on the new gauges, Iv'e taken the tank and seat off, and traced the speedo wire to the connector under the tank/seat, i'm just going to cut this wire and solder the new loom in, I am waiting for the new LED head light bulb to arrive from https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk
I used head light bulbs from him on all my cars, they are so much better, and any problems just ring up and Duncan will sort you out

The PINK wire for the Tachometer trigger should be (stock) connected to the trigger side of the coil (which comes from the ignition module as a PINK wire)...

Good Luck...

Speedo Left - Tacho Right - That's the stock positioning.
