I see a Texas gate there. What is roaming wild on the other side? Or are you already on "the other side" ?

In Az we call those "cattle guards".
I have a friend who would host organized off road motorcycle riding days for 100-150 people all over the US southwest. He would have to obtain land permits, puplic gathering ect ect ect. To do this he would have to sit through lots of government type meetings with the local BLM (Land Management). At one of these meetings, while displaying his intended route through the desert, one of the seated members of the committee politely asked about a possible point where the budget for the day could be cut. She, an appointed Land Management committee member, proceeded to point to all of the "cattle guards" that were strewn along the route. She then asks, "do we really need to pay all these guards just for cattle??"

For the area, goggle "badlands guardian" in Alberta. That is just beyond the road end you see past the Texas gate.

It was actually raining in this pic (drizzle), and in the heat of the southern Alberta badlands I was chasing storms to try and cool off. Needed to stop to take a leak, and snapped this.

Large cattle ranges, antelope, coyote, and many deer in the region.

Low travelled roads, so even the backroads make some great scenic travels. No worries about traffic, just live in the moment of the ride. With that tank, however, it takes some planning to not get stranded in the middle of nowhere. And there is a lot of that down there.

It is my new "work area" for the next couple of years, so getting down and enjoying the lands, when not on the clock!

Fresh pic of mine from Groundhog Day. Nice riding weather for the middle of winter!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.
