I've got the 10" mini-apes, on 8" pullback risers, on mine. & I don't have to worry about sweaty arm pits. I am very comfortable with them & feel I'm not lacking any control. I am, however, dealing with permanent back, shoulder & arm malfunctions that make it impossible for me to sit up-right or put any weight on my arms. My riding position is almost the same as my seating position when I'm in my recliner at home. No other way for me to do it & after 15 years & 180,000+ miles, I'm quite used to it. Ask Joesbobber about the last Canaan Village ride. I may not be as good or as fast as some, but I've never been left behind. Every one is different & we all have our unique requirements for comfort & control. There is no right or wrong way to set up a bike. You just make it work for you & for the way you use your bike.

I agree. That was the idea behind the snippet. Many people like things I don't like and many don't like the things I do. That's OK; I set up the Roadster to suit me. Everybody should set their bike up to suit what they like.

Back in the 70s, I really loved my Moto Guzzi Sport. After it got stolen, I eventually bought a Guzzi 850 T which I transformed into an almost Sport. I remember the woman working the parts counter at the Guzzi/BMW dealership thought it was funny that I put Sport bars and a Sport gas tank on the T. It just seemed wrong to her that I would personalize the bike to suit my tastes.

The Sportster is the idea motorcycle for customizing. Some folks want to turn them into baggers. Some want bobbers, some want race bikes and some want choppers. I want a Gentleman's Express and I've come pretty close to what that means in my opinion. It looks and works the way I want it to.

I wasn't trying to badmouth anybody else's idea of what a bike should be; I was strictly talking about my tastes in motorcycles. I guess I didn't make that point well enough.
