Updating I tightened the 11/16 nut on cable per tigger’s advice and now the choke stays on as it should with the bike running. On a side note I had the clothes pin idea in mind if tightening of the nut would not work. Thanks for all the input.

glad it worked. like i said mine loosens itself from time to time i have to retighten it. i am sure at some point it will fail and i'll have to replace it.
