Default New to me '74 xlch

I have recently purchased a 1974 xlch with an electric start as well as the kick start. It runs good but is in need of cosmetic restoration and some rewiring. Can anyone tell me where I can get a FSM and will if it have a wiring diagram.
I am sure I will be back with more questions as I get into it

Congrats on the new to you bike! Had a 74 for about 10 years.

Found this on FleaBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/19278020081...wAAOSwr7xeapwz

There are lots of Clymer ones cheaper but they leave a lot to be desired. They are ok as a reference along WITH a FSM. Not so good alone IMO.

Let us know how you make out.

Google ratbikeservice and download the FSM and Parts Catalog.
The wiring diagram is in the FSM.

I disagree about the Clymer. I have the official Harley manual & the Haynes. I only use the Clymer, to me it's the best of all of them. Don't bother with the Haynes, it's not even good for wiping your arse on.

+1 mr. andy
aftermarket assumes you are a novice but the fsm says you can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Thanks for the replies, I will be buying one or the other or maybe both. The wiring is a mess and electrical is not my strong suit.

This is what I bought for my 1980 rewire
https://www.ebay.com/itm/37185515807...wAAOSwIWZhwJou

Last year. That harness was 79 bucks.

I use all three: FSM, Clymer, Haynes. I disagree with all of the negative talk about any of these.
  • Haynes has the best photos
  • Clymer has good stuff that is not in the FSM
  • FSM is essential
